These four are the ceiling on everything this website says about the product. A fifth line seen on the seller's information site, about reducing the oxidative stress associated with eye fatigue, is a mechanism claim and it is not repeated here.
Four supports is a restrained list for this category, and the restraint is worth noticing. There is no mention of reversing anything, no number attached to an improvement, and no disease named.
Each of the four gets its own section below: what it means in plain terms, which of the six ingredients is behind it, and what the research actually measured.
Visivra and visual clarity: what that means
Contrast sensitivity, not acuity, and the trials that measured it.
Clarity in this context is not sharpness on an eye chart. Acuity, the letters-on-a-chart measurement, is mostly a matter of optics and of the spectacle prescription in front of the eye, and no capsule changes either.
What the carotenoid trials measured instead is contrast sensitivity: the ability to tell a grey shape from a slightly different grey background. It is the difference between reading a road sign in flat winter light and reading it at noon in June, and it is the measurement people describe when they say things look washed out.
CREST enriched macular pigment in people free of retinal disease and reported improvement on that measure. A separate trial looked at contrast sensitivity and lateral inhibition with the same supplementation approach, and a 2020 randomised study tracked pigment density and contrast together over months.

Visivra and healthy retinal function
The visual cycle, the two ingredients that feed it, and why the verb is 'support'.
The retina performs one of the most chemically demanding jobs in the body. Every photon that produces a signal spends a molecule, and that molecule has to be rebuilt before the same photoreceptor can respond again. The cycle runs continuously, all day, in millions of cells.
Zinc and vitamin A are the two ingredients on this label with a documented place in that cycle. Vitamin A is the raw material of rhodopsin; zinc is a cofactor for the enzymes that recycle it in the retinal pigment epithelium. The original AREDS trial was built around zinc for exactly this reason, at 80 mg a day with 2 mg of copper.
Supporting a function is a different claim from improving it, and the pack chooses the weaker word. That choice is accurate: supplying a nutrient the cycle uses is well-established physiology, while showing that a healthy cycle runs better with extra of it is a much harder thing to demonstrate.
Retinal disease is followed at an eye clinic, with instruments. The National Eye Institute describes what age-related macular degeneration is and how it is assessed, and the 2023 Cochrane review covers what antioxidant supplements do and do not do for people who already have it. Neither of those is a description of this capsule.
Visivra and long-term eye wellness
Four questions that sound like one, and the four different answers.
Long-term is the word doing the work in this support, and it is the honest one. Macular pigment thins with age. The carotenoids that build it cannot be synthesised by the body. A daily source is a reasonable idea on those two facts alone, independent of any trial result.
The trial evidence here belongs to a specific population and it is worth stating precisely. AREDS2 enrolled people who already had intermediate age-related macular degeneration, or the advanced form in one eye, and measured progression to late disease over five years. Its report No. 3 looked at the lutein and zeaxanthin effect specifically.
That is secondary prevention: slowing something already present. The separate question of whether supplements stop the disease starting is covered by the Cochrane review on prevention, and the answer there is weaker. Both facts belong on a page about long-term wellness, because the phrase is otherwise free to mean anything.

The row that gets misquoted most often is the first. AREDS2 is quoted constantly as evidence that lutein helps eyes, and it is evidence for something narrower and more useful than that.
Visivra and blue light: the careful version
What the pack claims, what the nearest good evidence says, and the gap between them.
The fourth support is the one where precision matters most, because blue light is the most oversold idea in the category. The part that is solid: macular pigment is yellow, yellow absorbs blue, and a thicker layer absorbs more. That is why the pigment is there and it is not controversial.
The part that is not settled is whether that absorption changes anything a person notices. The 2023 Cochrane review examined blue-light filtering spectacle lenses and concluded that they probably make little or no difference to visual acuity in the short term, that the effect on sleep is indeterminate, and that no randomised evidence exists on macular health.
That review is about lenses, not capsules, and this website does not pretend otherwise. It is quoted because it is the nearest well-conducted evidence to the question, and because quoting it accurately is more useful than quoting a study that does not exist.
